A Life Without Excuses.
Life can be tough and most small business owners have experienced a low point where they have questioned whether they should GIVE UP or PUSH ON.
I remember my dad used to say, “No matter how bad you think you’ve got it, there’s always someone out there who has faced worse and got through it.”
When you feel overwhelmed or like you want to throw in the towel, who are the people who help you recalibrate the boundaries of what’s possible and inspire you to keep striving forward?
I’ve been fortunate to have a father-in-law who has been a tremendous role model to me.
He was out of home at 13 because his parents were alcoholics, so he went into a foster home.
He left school at 14 and put a deposit on his first piece of land because he was determined to give himself and his future family a different life.
He represented Australia winning an Olympic Silver Medal and two Commonwealth Gold Medals and was a millionaire by the time he reached 30.
He’s been a tremendous mentor to me. His determination, work ethic and refusal to fail have been a constant source of inspiration in my life and I hope that I am able to inspire my clients to push past their challenges and reach their potential in a similar way that my father-in-law has done for me.
The Inky Johnson story, while very different, reminds me of the fierce determination that’s required to overcome the inevitable obstacles that we ALL must face when growing a business.
Like my father-in-law, this story inspires me and reminds me of one of the most salient lessons my father-in-law taught me.
You can have EXCUSES or you can have RESULTS, but you can’t have them both – you have to choose.
If you want to get re-energised, refocused and remove the excuses, take 7 minutes right now to listen to INKY JOHNSON HERE.
