What do you want from 2018?
Do you know specifically what your goals and objectives are?
Or like many entrepreneurs, are you happy to say “Whatever I can get.”
I think Abraham Lincoln was right when he said “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”
We all have wishes, dreams and goals, yet it seems few people ever transform their desires into reality.
Most people, it seems, carry with them a sense of frustration that flows from the knowledge that they are capable of so much more than they are currently achieving.
If you share this sense of frustration and are committed to changing the results you produce, then this article is for you.
I live my life by a simple philosophy, one that has served me well, and I’m going to suggest you consider adopting it.
Here it is…
Ready FIRE Aim.
History is littered with examples of people who have adopted the Ready Fire Aim philosophy and reaped the benefits.
What stops most people from applying the principle of Ready Fire Aim is the same thing that stops people achieving any meaningful success in their lives – fear.
To live the Ready Fire Aim way of life is not to be free from fear. Mark Twain perhaps said it best when he wrote, “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear – not absence of fear.”
Undoubtedly you will face many fears as you build your business, and as you do I encourage you to hear the words of Susan Jeffers and “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway.”
As Abraham Lincoln said, “What comes to those who wait are the leftovers.”
If you want more than the scraps of life, then you need to commit to taking massive and immediate action.
The key to creating what you want in life is to build positive momentum.
There is only one way I know to build the momentum you need to achieve great success in business and that is to become an action taker.
If you want to live by the motto of Ready Fire Aim, you will need to be a pragmatist, more interested in producing results than perfection.
It starts with self-talk.
Communication is the primary building block of all success.
How we communicate with those around us has a profound effect on the results we produce. Even more significant however, is the way we speak to ourselves.
Self-talk is central to our ability to create what we want in life. Internal dialogue will always be the ultimate determiner of success in any pursuit.
Many people have learnt what to say publicly. They can show you that they understand the principles, concepts and methodology associated with any practice. But what they fail to do is successfully apply the ideas into their own lives.
Your ability to move confidently toward what you want is largely determined by your self-talk. When you change the way you talk to yourself, you will begin to produce vastly better results.
According to psychologist Dr. Shad Helmstetter, our self-talk reflects and creates our emotional states. You can feel at ease or stressed, depending on what you tell yourself.
Your self-talk can influence your self-esteem, self-image, energy levels, performance and relationships with others.
My advice is to trust that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to. Apply all your focus to that area and tell yourself constantly that you can do it.
You must talk to yourself with love – never disdain.
You are capable of anything and as soon as you truly believe, things will begin to change and results will start to happen.
Ready Fire Aim is about taking action now. You will never have success, happiness, financial security, better health, richer relationships or anything else that is important to you in the future, unless you recognise you have to begin creating them right now.
There is no point dwelling on past mistakes or lost opportunities; they are gone. And there is little value daydreaming or talking about the future.
The only time you ever really have is now. Your business results rely on the decisions you make now. If you want a brighter future, it is reliant on what you do today.
We live in a time that offers more opportunities than any other period of history. Technology makes it possible for us to connect with millions of people around the globe in seconds. We have access to more tools than we could have ever dreamed possible. Your time to succeed is now. So whatever excuses you have been holding on to – let them go. The longer you spend looking backwards with regret, the longer it will be before you can progress forward towards what you truly want.
From interested to committed
If you are serious about adopting the Ready Fire Aim philosophy and starting to produce superior results in your business, then you are going to need to be more than interested; you’re going to need to be committed.
Almost every day I meet people who are interested in improving their business, but only a few are truly committed to doing what it takes. If you are serious about getting more from your life, then you must take action and start firing.
The key message is don’t aim to make the call, book a meeting, create a marketing piece – FIRE.
Those who are brave enough to do, ultimately win.
Be willing to risk failure and temporary setbacks and to move in the direction of your goals with unwavering faith in your own abilities.
Remember, you are not trying to outperform anyone else. This is about being the best you can be. I know you can do it, but it doesn’t matter what I think; what matters is what you believe.
You are ready.
Now is your time so start firing.
