How to get your message heard in a noisy marketplace.

The fact is, it’s easier now than it has ever been to make noise.

The marketplace is filled with people clambering to grab your attention.

Tweets, blogs, posts, emails, banners, videos, live feeds, pictures and constant connection advertising are just the tip of the noise iceberg!

For most entrepreneurs, the marketplace is like standing in front of a speaker at a rock concert and trying to talk to a friend.

The noise is deafening and even those closest to you are having trouble hearing the message.

So what is an entrepreneur to do?

The reality is most small businesses are simply whispering in a hurricane.

Their marketing messages aren’t being ignored, they are simply INVISIBLE!

It would be easy to suggest the reason that no one SEES or HEARS your message is because of the sheer volume of messages out there.

But that’s simply not true.

We have all become better at filtering out the noise (mainly as a means of self-preservation), but we only filter out what we see as erroneous to us.

We ignore what we see as irrelevant.

And what we see as irrelevant are messages from businesses about their business – and from people trying to convince us to buy from them.

If you persist in trying to grab attention by telling them how smart, talented, successful or experienced you are, then I’m afraid you’re in trouble.

Why?

Simple… they don’t care!

The best marketers recognise and leverage the power of self-interest.

They understand people buy for their own reasons, NOT for the seller’s reasons.

Why are you in business?

I suspect it’s because you:

  • Have a passion for what you do
  • You want to make a difference
  • You get joy out of seeing your clients succeed

But you also want to make a living. Hopefully a GOOD LIVING!

While money isn’t necessarily the primary driver, it remains an important part of the process.

You need to ensure you get paid because if you don’t, eventually you will be forced to give up or at least admit you don’t have a business and instead have a hobby!

This will leave your clients in the hands of a competitor, perhaps a competitor who cares a lot less than you do.

It’s in your customer’s interest for you to make money, so you can be there to deliver them great service.

That means, it’s in your interests to change the conversation!

You will never enjoy the rewards of seeing clients succeed and earn the income you want if you persist in building marketing messages and materials that are too self-focused.

The type of body shape, fitness level, exercise regime and dietary habits you would like?

Think of any area of your life and chances are you wish you could do it bigger, brighter, and better.

Your prospects also have a CURRENT to DESIRED STATE (in relation to your area of expertise).

The question is, DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS?
