Recently I was listening to an interview with Amy Porterfield and she was asked if she had any words of advice for entrepreneurs.
Her response was fantastic.
“Storm the beach and burn the boats,” she said.
In other words, if you’re planning to do something, go all the way – no excuses!
I think she’s right. If you are serious about being successful then the slowly, slowly approach is unlikely to work.
It all really comes back to the concept of getting comfortable with being UNCOMFORTABLE.
If as Amy suggests you burn the boats, you eliminate the option of reverting to how it was and instead force yourself to push forward into the unknown. When discussing comfort zones, my friend Sandi Givens taught me that what we all really have two zones. The known and the unknown zone.
A lot of entrepreneurs are trapped in their KNOWN zone, afraid to leave the safety of what they know, but these same entrepreneurs are frustrated by a lack of results and meaningful progress.
It’s time to step into the UNKNOWN zone, to back yourself, believe in your potential and chase a BIGGER DREAM!
Time passes too quickly to waste it wishing your life away.
Don’t waste another minute clinging to your boat; storm your beach with energy, passion, commitment and an unwavering belief in your own abilities and magic can happen.
Whatever it is that you’ve been dreaming about creating, make it happen – it’s your time to shine so why not stop bobbing on the water longing for more and instead head for shore.
Oh, and don’t forget to burn the boat too as you’re not going back again. You are going forward in pursuit of your dream.
See you on the beach.
